Coronavirus Arrangements Update

Dear Parent/Carer,

Thank you for your ongoing support. The school remains ‘closed’ for most students in line with government policy. We do still do not yet know the duration of the school ‘closure’ and will seek to keep parents informed as and when the situation changes.

Students in Years 7, 8, 9 & 10 and Year 12 should continue to learn at home accessing https://www.bromfords.essex.sch.uk/remote-learning/ and our Edulink platform; staff will be updating work and tasks set on these platforms regularly. We have received a number of enquiries regarding the marking of completed work. This is only the second week of school closure and teaching staff, many of whom are parents and home educating themselves, are also adjusting to this new way of working. Some staff are already conducting virtual lessons and receiving students’ work to offer feedback but I hope you understand that not all staff are in circumstances where this is possible. We have initially asked teachers to set work and tasks that we feel best support parents, students and staff in the run-up to what was originally the Easter break. We will be reviewing longer term solutions going forward.

The school remains ‘open’ Monday to Friday to provide supervision for the children of ‘key workers’ and for students supported with an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) or those who have a social worker. From Monday 6th April, we will require parents/carers who fall into these categories to inform us via office@bromfords.essex.sch.uk by midday the previous day if they wish their child to attend the school which will be open from 9.00am to 2.00pm. This is ensure staff are supported in adhering to government guidelines in only making necessary journeys, as there have been occasions both this week and last when no students attended the school. Therefore for Monday 6th April, we would require notice of your child’s attendance by midday this Friday, 3rd April and then for each subsequent day going forward. For any student who does attend school, a reminder that we are no longer able to provide a catering service and students should bring their own food and drink with them. We are still awaiting guidance on whether the school will be ‘open’ as above on both Good Friday and Easter Monday.

During this period of closure, the school’s telephones are not currently manned. If you have an enquiry, please direct it via email to office@bromfords.essex.sch.uk.

Please continue to stay safe and follow NHS guidance on self-isolation and social distancing.
