Local Covid Alert Level

Dear Parent/Carer,

As you will be aware, Essex County Council made a request to the Secretary of State for Health to move Essex into the Local Covid Alert Level: High, in order to stem the rising tide of infections in our county. This request was approved by the Government and will come into effect across Essex at midnight on Friday 16 October.

As a result of this change from Monday 19th October all students must follow government guidance and wear face masks:

  • for the duration of their journey to and from school if they catch a bus,
  • as they enter the school building at the beginning of the day,
  • whenever they are moving around inside the school building (i.e. lesson changeovers),
  • in shared communal spaces (i.e. muster points at break and lunch where they are not eating).

Students are not required to wear face masks during lessons; however, they may still do so if they prefer.

If you believe there is a medical, or any other significant reason, why your child should not wear a face mask then please provide them with a note explaining their particular circumstances. Your child will then be issued with an exemption card. A member of staff may contact you to clarify the contents of the note prior to issuing an exemption card.

We are grateful for your continued support as we endeavour to minimise risk to our students and staff.

Yours faithfully

Mr Neil Dunn
