Ex-Student donates to local families!

The Bromfords School and Sixth Form College are extremely proud of one of its ex-students, Charlie Kelman. Charlie has recently signed for Queens Park Rangers FC who play in the Championship, having started his career very successfully at Southend United where he played regularly in the first team since his debut aged 17.

Charlie contacted the school and asked if he could provide some financial help to some of our students and families who would normally receive free school meals to help provide for the students at the school. Charlie had researched this topic and seen how often some families struggle without this support during holiday times. Having watched a video on this, Charlie expressed how it ‘made me mad’ to see young people struggle and suffer.

Charlie has provided £500 to help meet this challenge and make a small but real difference in the lives of young people and their families. The Bromfords School has passed this support onto families to assist them over the upcoming holiday. The recent second lockdown and the continuing challenge of our community finding itself in High alert presents everyone with uncertainty and pressures and these are often felt more by vulnerable and disadvantaged families.

The thoughtfulness and kindness that Charlie has shown in this matter is an exemplary example of the School’s motto; To Learn and To Care. We, as a School, are incredibly grateful to Charlie for his generous donation and wish him continued success in his footballing career.
