Arrangements for the start of Spring Term

Dear Parents & Carers,

Yesterday’s announcement from the government regarding the return of students to school in January 2021 means that we will have to adapt our arrangements previously communicated to you. We understand and appreciate how frustrating the late timing of these details has been for all concerned. In line with the yesterday’s government announcement and following further clarification overnight, we can confirm the following details:

w/b 4th January

  • The school will be closed to all students on Monday 4th January.
  • Remote Learning will be in place for all year groups throughout the week from Monday 4th January. Online lessons will run in line with students’ timetables as was the case prior to the Christmas break.
  • The school will be open from Tuesday 5th January for the children of ‘key workers’ and for students supported with an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) or those who have a social worker. If parents whose children meet these criteria wish to make use of a school place during this week, they must inform the school by emailing office@bromfords.essex.sch.uk by midday on Monday 4th January. The school will be open for these students from 8.30am to 3.00pm and students will be following their year group’s remote learning timetable using our IT facilities. Students must attend in school uniform with a face covering as part of their school equipment and there will be no catering facilities so students will need to bring a packed lunch and a drink.
  • Parents of students in our Autism Provision will be contacted separately by Mr Upward and Mrs Whysall.

w/b 11th January

  • Students in Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 will return to school. A reminder that the start time for Years 10 and 11 will now be 8.30am with tutor time taking place at the beginning of the day.  On arrival students should go to their muster point and wait to be collected by their tutors.  Students should not arrive any earlier than 8.00am. Students new end time is now 3pm. Sixth Form start and finish times remain as they have been since September.
  • External exams for students in these year groups will run as planned.
  • Students must attend with a face covering as part of their school equipment.
  • Remote Learning will be in place for Years 7, 8 and 9 throughout the week from Monday 11th January. Online lessons will run in line with students’ timetables as was the case prior to the Christmas break.
  • The school will also be open this week for the children of ‘key workers’ and for students supported with an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) or those who have a social worker in Years 7, 8 and 9. If parents who meet these criteria wish to make use of a school place during this week, they must inform the school by emailing office@bromfords.essex.sch.uk by midday on Friday 8th January. The school will be open for these students from 8.30am to 3.00pm and students will be following their year group’s remote learning timetable using our IT facilities. A reminder that for Lower School students (Years 7 and 8), their start time is now 8.55am.  On arrival students should go to their muster point and wait to be collected by their Period 1 teacher.  Students should not arrive any earlier than 8.30am. Students new end time is 3.30pm with tutor time taking place at the end of the day.  They are free to depart at this time unless attending a club or enrichment session. For Year 9 students, their start time is now 8.30am with tutor time taking place at the beginning of the day.  On arrival students should go to their muster point and wait to be collected by their tutors.  Students should not arrive any earlier than 8.00am.  Students new end time is now 3pm.  Students are free to depart at this time unless attending an arranged club or enrichment session.

Should changes in government guidance impact on any of our planned arrangements, then we will communicate these as soon as we are able to do so.

Yours faithfully
