Lateral Flow Testing Volunteers

You will have heard in the media that secondary schools are being directed by the government to carry out lateral flow testing for both staff and students due help reduce the spread of COVID-19. The tests will be self-administered and voluntary and we will write to you with further details when all arrangements are in place. The tests work on the premise that if asymptomatic carriers are confirmed, then the risk is reduced for everyone. In order to facilitate the operation of this testing programme we require volunteers to assist with non-clinical duties around reception and queue management.
Volunteers can come from any background. You will be trained online, and then be asked to volunteer for a 4-hour shift. At the start of the shift you will be issued with PPE and be tested yourself.
The expected duties are:

  • Registration Desk – Registration Assistant
  • Greet students/staff at arrival
  • Provide test kits and directions to swabbing desk
  • Swabbing Desk – Test Assistant
  • Provide instructions on what to expect with taking the LFT
  • Recording Desk – Results Recorder
  • Collate results from Processing Operatives and uploads to digital solution
  • Volunteers will be required to commit to a whole shift and ideally more than 1 day, this will help build experience and efficiency of the testing process.

Individuals who are interested in volunteering should contact the school at recruitment@bromfords.essex.sch.uk. Once registered, ID verified and vetted for safeguarding, volunteers will receive training links for the online training.
