Governor Vacancies

We currently have two vacancies for governors and therefore invite nominations to fill these vacancies.

The governing body is keen for candidates preferably with governing experience or willingness to learn and commit, and preferably with skills in the following: strategies development, risk management (identifying key risks and evaluate their potential impact), academies funding, curriculum, stakeholder engagement, performance management and how to be effective in his governance role.

The Bromfords School has always aimed for a partnership with the community which undoubtedly brings great benefits to the children. One of the most significant ways you can help in promoting this aim is to volunteer to be a governor.

The Bromfords School Governing Body is passionate about education and committed to continuous school improvement to ensure the best possible outcomes for our pupils.

The governing body’s main tasks are:

  • to ensure that the school has a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • to hold the Executive Leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils and the effective and efficient performance management of staff;
  • to oversee the financial performance of the school and making sure funds are spent well.

Governors play a vital role in ensuring the governing body is aware of the views of the local community. We feel sure that there are members of the community prepared to take on this important role and give their time and commitment to helping us to continue to improve the school’s performance.

Training and support will be available to help you develop into the role. This will include in-house mentoring and support as well as training provided by external providers. The term of office is four years. You will be expected to attend meetings, be a member of governing body committees, maintain confidentiality, commit to training and visit the school.

If you feel you can support in this capacity please complete the attached application form: Word/PDF and return it to the school by 12.00 noon on 22nd  June 2022, for the attention of the governance manager.

Please note that for the protection of children, all governor appointments are subject to a DBS check.

If there are more applications than vacancies, we will hold an election (a secret ballot will be carried out)

If you have any queries about this process or would like to find out more about the role, please contact Manuela Gordea, Governance Manager
