Dear Parents, Carers and Future Students,
We are deeply saddened that our Open Evening on Thursday September 30th will now take place as a virtual event rather than on site. This is a decision taken across both schools within Compass Trust. We are incredibly disappointed not to be able to open our doors to the community and showcase all that our school has to offer but I am sure you will understand that this decision has not been taken lightly.
Our priority must always be the health and well-being of staff and students alongside a commitment to providing the best quality of teaching and learning in the classroom. We are fortunate that the number of positive COVID-19 cases in school has been very low since our return. Our Open Evening traditionally brings in large numbers of visitors with bustling corridors and excited groups of children crowding around to see experiments in science, contributing to murals in Art and sampling some of the fantastic recipes down in Food Technology. Clearly running these activities makes it difficult to socially distance and puts staff and students along with our visitors at risk. The alternative was to run an Open Evening without any of these activities, which would have been a shadow of the experience we can usually provide. Therefore, the risk of increased COVID-19 cases and the impact that would have on individuals alongside the disruption it could potentially cause to learning with staff and students isolating from a positive test result is something that had to be considered.
Despite not running the Open Evening or Year 6 tours last year it was pleasing that Bromfords School remained the school of choice within the local community. In September 2021 we were oversubscribed and with a current high primary cohort we anticipate the same for September 2022. For parents and students who have not visited the school we have increased the capacity of our existing Year 6 parental tours which are running twice a day up to October 22nd. We welcome and encourage parents to book a tour to gain an insight into the day-to-day life of the school. If you have admission queries or wish to speak to our Admissions Officer directly, please call on 01268-627846 or email at email@example.com.
Our virtual open evening will go ‘live’ on our website on September 30th and, as last year, I know you will find the information useful in helping to make that important decision regarding your child’s secondary school. I know how disappointed many of you will be, but I hope you understand the reasons behind the decision. Although we may not see you in person this Autumn, our transition programme will give students and parents the opportunity to experience the school next year and of course, our Senior Team look forward to welcoming you on our daily tours over the coming weeks.
Thank you all for your understanding,
from all the Bromfords community.
